Registry Ceremonies

Keeping things super simple? A Registry Ceremony might be just what you’re after. It’s quick, legal, and fuss-free.
Validated for Registry Ceremonies

I’m authorised by the government to conduct Registry Ceremonies.
That means you get the official short script (no frills, no personalisation) but you can still choose a relaxed spot – at home, a nearby park etc. Just not a commercial venue like a hotel or restaurant.

The process is detailed but if you take care here I’ll ensure you have a lovely happy ceremony.

The main points are:

  • Maximum of 10 guests including children and your two witnesses.

  • Flat fee of $90.
  • Office hours, Monday to Friday excluding public holidays.

  • Within 10km of my home in South Christchurch. Suggestions: Your home, a local park, The Green on Dyers Pass Road, The popular Cracroft Reserve, Victoria Park, Halswell Quarry, the Jetty at Governors Bay, your choice 🙂

  • You provide two witnesses

  • No extras like professional photographers or wedding parties

  • Full Terms & Conditions:
I encourage you to read the full generic BDM version. It’s on the CANZ web site, see the foot of the page you get to, at  The Celebrants Aotearoa (CANZ) found here, and are available in te reo Māori, English, Samoan, and Chinese.
  • If the terms are too restricted for your needs have a look at my Registry Plus package or let’s chat and find the best fit.

How to book a Registry Ceremony:

Some points to remember. It takes 3 to 4 working days for your Request & your Marriage Licence to come to me. I’ll then send it to you for checking and we will begin the conversation to manage your Registry Ceremony. So unless it’s really urgent, try to wait 3 – 4 days for me to get your papers. When ordering your licence you should:

  • Select a Registry Ceremony not a Personalised Wedding.
  • Choose your preferred date. I’m generally available but TXT first if you wish.
  • To find a Celebrant: Type ‘Christchurch’ and select my name from the dropdown.
  • When you are ready go to marriages.services.govt.nz
